catching up

I missed last week since I was at the New Promise conference in Madison, gaining a lot of new information, but feel a little lost as to the new things we discussed. I tried my best to research the new tools so here's what I've come up with.

I currently use the online-stopwatch in my room for many various things. In particular, to time students for basic math games we do during the week. I also have used similar survey sites as Survey Monkey to gather data about student interest topics to guide my lessons for a particular day. Most recently I did a short lesson on bullying and wanted to get feedback from students on how big of an issue it was at our school. I love sites like survey monkey, something that does the data for you is great especially for someone like me who is starting action research.

As for skype and DimDim...I think these sites would be great for many different things. I think it is a great tool for educators to use during staff development or staff meetings. Wouldn't it be nice to do staff development from home? I also thought this would have been nice during my college years to keep in contact with grandparents or my parents who were very technology savvy. I hope this covers everything!
