Both Skype and DimDim would be interesting to have a book talk with another school or group of kids. Maybe it could even work with a higher reading group. They could skype with another group of students, reading the same book, in a different school (even in the district).
This is also something I am going to try using personally. This would be great for communicating with grandparents who live far away. This beats the random webcam while talking on the phone combination. Anthony, my son, would love this! We just got a new laptop with a built-in mic and webcam. A great toy for trying all of this.
