In talking to students about their use of Facebook it turns out that most of them use it for purely social reasons. I think some of the most interesting uses are to connect with individuals with like interests. Through MySpace I became aware of the Hip Hop Chess Federation.

This group of promotes cultural understanding by bringing together individuals who are interested in chess, martial arts and hip hop music. Prior to linking to individuals in MySpace I would never have guessed that such a group might exist. Once you find an individual with an interest you can easily find others who have the same interests. Your connections to individuals can expand very quickly.
Powerful yet scary.
