Finishing up week 1
Currently, I'm using StumbleUpon to share articles of interest with a few friends. This is the reason that I preferred to set up Delicious instead of Diigo. This site give you the ability to keep all your bookmarks as long as you have an internet connection. Teachers could literally share bookmarks with students by having them sign up. Probably useful for librarians as well. I've used it a couple times already to find "how to" home improvement projects. Secondly, I decided to sign up for NING because it is more geared towards educators. While browsing Ning in education, I signed up for http://www.classroom20.com There are 16,000 users interested in collaborative technologies and of course web tools 2.0. I've explored smartboards, virtual schools and classrooms, skyping in school, etc. This is an excellent site to stay current with technology. Lastly, all the miscellaneous tools can easily be implemented into the classroom. To me, the stopwatch function will be used more frequently. As a teacher, you can assign specific amounts of time for brainstorming, instruction, peer work, etc. to help your classroom function smoothly from task to task. Other ways may include: speeches, debates, journaling, presentations, etc.
